Meet our team at Ducklings Nursery in Sandiacre, Beeston and Sutton Coldfield. Our group of 35 professionals are all highly trained, far exceeding the minimum standards in early years education.
Not only do we meet national standards for child-to-adult ratios, but we surpass them, promising more individual attention and superior care for every child in our facilities. Plus, we always have a qualified teacher on site, ensuring the highest standard of education and safety.
We believe in the continual development of our staff, encouraging regular attendance at training and developmental courses to always stay ahead in the early education sector.

Medusa Sojourn
Nursery Director/Owner
NVQ Diploma Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People
Medusa is the owner of three nurseries one in Sutton Coldfield and two in Nottingham. Medusa is passionate about providing nurturing environments for the children in her settings. Medusa has 3 Teenage children and once read tarot cards as a profession but now just does it for friends and family.
Becky Cowell
General Manager and Administrator
NVQ Diploma Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education
Becky joined the Ducklings team in 2020 and works over all Ducklings sites. Becky has been working in the Early Years sector since 1999. Becky loves to read, and spend time in Wales with her family, she also recently brought a French Bulldog Puppy called Woody, even though she has a fear of dogs.
Emily Brittan
Deputy Manager and Pre-School Lead
PGCE in Primary and Early years with Qualified Teacher Status
Emily joined the Ducklings team in 2023, with over 7 years’ experience working in the childcare sector. Emily got married at the beginning of April 2023, and has just moved into her new home which she is very excited to do a full refurbishment on.
Lynette Straw
Deputy Manager and Setting Based SENDCO
Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce
Lynette joined the Ducklings team in 2021, bringing her fun and energetic energy to the setting. Lynette loves to sing and dance with the children and is also known as our karaoke queen and has been known to belt out a fabulous rendition of ‘Mr Brightside’.
Samiee Stanley
Nursery Manager and Designated Safeguard Lead (DSL)
BA honours in Early Childhood Studies
Samiee has worked for Ducklings since 2018 and previously worked for Clowns Nursery. Samiee has 2 daughters and loves spending quality time with her family. She once swam with a dolphin named CJ and even got a smooch from him.
Shelley Armstrong
Nursery Manager and Designated Safeguard Lead (DSL)
BA honours working with children, young people, and families.
Shelley has worked within the childcare sector for over 10 years and has been at Ducklings Nursery since 2018. Shelley is a very busy mom of 4 and loves nothing more than spending time with her family.
